Overview
The Langtang Valley Trek is the closest Himalayan trek to Kathmandu, following the Langtang Khola through pine and bamboo forest into a glacier-carved valley walled by 6,000–7,000 m peaks. The trail leads to Kyanjin Gompa, a working Buddhist monastery, with side trips to Tserko Ri or Kyanjin Ri viewpoints for sweeping views of Langtang Lirung (7,227 m). Rebuilt after the 2015 earthquake, the valley's Tamang communities are known for their warmth and distinct Tibetan-influenced culture, and trekking here also directly supports the local economy.

Day-by-Day Itinerary
Day 1
Drive Kathmandu to Syabrubesi
Scenic 7–8 hour drive along the Trishuli river to Syabrubesi (1,550 m).
Day 2
Trek to Lama Hotel
Follow the Langtang Khola through forest to Lama Hotel (2,470 m).
Day 3
Trek to Langtang Village
Climb through rebuilt villages with valley views to Langtang Village (3,430 m).
Day 4
Trek to Kyanjin Gompa
Short, scenic walk to Kyanjin Gompa (3,870 m); visit the monastery and cheese factory.
Day 5
Acclimatization: Tserko Ri or Kyanjin Ri
Optional climb to Tserko Ri (4,984 m) or the easier Kyanjin Ri for panoramic mountain views.
Day 6
Trek back to Lama Hotel
Retrace the trail downhill through forest back to Lama Hotel.
Day 7
Trek to Syabrubesi
Final descent to Syabrubesi.
Day 8
Drive back to Kathmandu
Return drive to Kathmandu.
